Hommelberg cycles for cancer research fund

UPDATE:

Erik ascended the Alp 6 times. He and his team contributed more than € 60,000!
We congratulate Erik and the team for this fantastic job.

Over 4,300 cyclists participated in the Alpe d'HuZes event. Total 2011 revenues are more than 20 million euros, all allocated for cancer research by the KWF-Fonds.

For the 6th time in a row, the cycle racing event Alpe d'HuZes will take place on June 9. This year, it has a very special international side effect. Area manager Erik Hommelberg is one of the participants who will ascend the Alp for a good cause. All sponsor revenues will be donated to the Alpe d'HuZes cancer research fund of KWF Kankerbestrijding.

Hommelberg is one of the 18 members of the team 'No Surrender', a group of friends, business relations and sympathizers. “The team is pretty odd, but we all want to contribute to a good cause and love cycle racing", tells Hommelberg. “Last year, we started preparations: spinning marathons, the sale of special Alpe d’Huez wine, company fund raising. Up till now (edit. June 6) we already collected over € 60,000!”

Besides being sponsored by his employer, Hommelberg is also sponsored by 2 of his accounts within the Dieseko Group. “Indeed, a very special international side effect, because these sponsors are J.P. Nelson from Singapore and Pilequip from Australia; hardly just around the corner!”

Preparations and training have not always been easy for Hommelberg. “For my work, I travel a lot and training sessions are not always possible. But with the spinning marathons, the participation in the Amstel Gold race and several trips to the Ardennes and Limburg (edit. rolling land), it has to succeed. The ambiance in the team is truly fantastic and as a team, we will find ways to get on top of that Alp!”

The Dieseko Group wishes Hommelberg and the team No Surrender all the best.
